was formed in the Fall of 2012. Many talented and eager high school musicians gathered at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Essex, excited to have an additional outlet outside of school for music. The first down beat was brought to life thanks to the combined efforts of conductors Dee Shaw and Chris Ingratta. From there, the band quickly expanded to include local musicians from around Windsor-Essex County which increased the level of expertise and fueled further passion to keep the band alive. This group has continued to grow thanks to the hard work of many past and present members, as well as local organizations, individuals in the community, and other local musical groups. The dedication of the membership has been able to keep the band growing and functioning, leading to the band coming back at full strength after returning from COVID-19. In the fall of 2014, an ad-hoc committee was created to manage the general operations of the band and in early 2015, the band completed the process to become a registered Non-Profit Corporation. The first general meeting of the newly formed corporation was held in October 2015 to elect the first board of directors. Our group continues to grow in strength as musicians from around the community gather to share their love for music.
